Before any mating takes place, our adult pairs undergo strict medical clearances:
Comprehensive DNA Testing: Every single breeding pair is fully DNA tested. This screens for hereditary genetic mutations, including Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) and Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), ensuring these traits are never passed down.
Professional PCR Screening: To protect our nursery from underlying infectious diseases, we utilize professional veterinary laboratories to perform advanced PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) testing. We screen our breeding adults for potential bacterial underlying conditions prior to breeding, ensuring a completely clean, pathogen-free environment for newborn kittens.
